Hi,
My name is David Brooke Wetzel, and I’m a musician, educator, programmer, and sound engineer in Chicago, IL. I’m a full-time Lecturer in Interdisciplinary Computing in the department of computer science (and affiliate faculty in music) at Loyola University Chicago. I primarily teach courses in music technology and the intersection of computing and the arts. I also serve as technical director at Access Contemporary Music for projects such as Sound of Silent Film, the Thirsty Ears street festival of classical music, Songs About Buildings and Moods (for PBS), and more. I’m a conservatory-trained clarinetist with a specialty in interactive electroacoustic performance. I’ve spent many years working on problems of accessibility and sustainability in electroacoustic music, particularly in regards to technological obsolescence. Lately, my work is trending more towards using interactive and mobile technologies to make musical creativity accessible to all.
